Yep, that's why I proposed a three-pronged approach -- adjust BOTH work and school schedules and bring back free range neighborhood play. More time in school doesn't have to mean sitting in a classroom. It could mean more recess, more nature immersion, more music, more art. There are lots of creative ways to solve this problem, but since it's mostly women picking up the slack, there just isn't the political will. And in our increasingly individualistic, consumer-oriented culture, communities and neighborhoods just don't provide the backbone they used to.
