What I mean is, I'm less subject to power dynamics under men than I have been at any other point in my life. I'm absolutely still immersed in a patriarchial culture, which is why I'll never escape its clutches. But as a financially independent woman, a co-owner of a company, a partner in an equitable marriage, and a resident of a highly progressive city where traditional gender roles are largely shunned, I'm far better off than I have been.
