Validation is definitely important. Often that's all I want now! Having helped raise a stepson (now 22), I think the social conditioning hits them later, but it still hits hard. It's different, of course, but potentially just as damaging. I know with my younger son, my husband and I are trying much harder to reframe what it means to "be a man" and to encourage vulnerability and emotional sensitivity. Good luck!!
