I don't want to imply that *everything* comes back to the white patriarchy, but even self interest is tangled up in it to some extent. If, as white women, we "play by the rules" we have a better chance of "making it" than other marginalized populations by virtue of enjoying more generational wealth, as one of many examples.

That said, yes, totally agree that self interest is a huge component. I sometimes catch myself feeling morally superior to my white female counterparts but, as I point out, at the end of the day it is in my interest to advocate for at least the three people of color who live in my home.
