I've never had a dog and often feel like we're the only family in Portland, OR who doesn't have one. People love their dogs here. I'm not sure I want to introduce one into my family now, despite my daughter's daily requests. I love the idea but I finally feel like I'm reclaiming my own identity and adding another dependent creature to our household is not super appealing. But if I ever cave, I'm sure I will get completely attached like you did!
