It's absolutely pertinent. Our workplace compensation is directly tied to how long our butts are in our seats (even for most salaried employees). When women are always the ones leaving work at 5 p.m. sharp to pick up our children, or requesting PTO to take our kids to doctor's appointments, we are seen as less committed and having less potential, limiting our ability to get raises and get promoted.
