It's a rational response, yes. And the other rational response is to fight like hell to change the current realities of pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood because there's no reason for them to be realities. Fighting for mothers benefits all of us - it leads to more humane, flexible workplace practices and healthier children and more community-based lifestyles. But no one except mothers seems to want to fight for mothers, and in our current realities, mothers ain't really got time for that...
