I'm not sure how my stepson relates to my experiences dealing with white toxic masculinity in the workplace so I may not be understanding your comment. But I don't need my stepson to "buy" anything I say. I just need him to listen to my lived experience and to treat me and others with dignity and respect. I have told him countless times that I am eager for him to speak his own truth and to hear about his lived experiences. All he wants to do is quote Proud Boys from YouTube to explain to me why my lived experiences are wrong. My stepson is incredibly smart; he has always been a deep thinker. My concerns with him have to do with how hatefully he's treating other people and being groomed to hate himself. Blind hatred can be found on both sides of the political spectrum, and it doesn't do anyone any good, including the ones consumed by it.
