I'm glad you've found at least one relationship with someone who lives in close proximity. Adult friendships are hard and rather elusive. Apartment complexes, particularly those with shared garden space, seem like the pefect place to build community! I'm sorry your other neighbors aren't more neighborly, but alas, it seems to an all-too-common phenomenon.
