Identifying as a caregiver and a fully autonomous human being should not be mutually exclusive. All humans should be taking care of one another. The real question is, why doesn't society value people who take of others? And as a follow-up, why are the majority of caretaking responsibilities delegated to one gender over the other? Why don't we empower everyone to be a caregiver?
