I'd definitely be curious to hear more about why you ask. I write quite a bit about race and in those cases, I'm intentional about matching the racial identities of the people in the stock photos to those in the story. When I write about issues that apply across races, I'm not necessarily looking for a photo of a woman who looks like me, but rather a photo that captures the theme of the story. And honestly after scrolling through dozens and dozens of skinny airbrushed 20-somethings (which is what you generally find when you type "woman" into any stock photo site search field), I'm always excited to find any photo of any woman who looks remotely my age and remotely "real." But if it rubs you the wrong way, I'd love to know why.
