I wrote about something very similar in a story called "Disney Princess Culture: Can We Agree to Let it Go?" It seemed like princesses were sort of on the way out and then Frozen hit. I get that Elsa is a more empowered princess than, say, Sleeping Beauty, but I would love to see Disney just drop the whole princess thing altogether. Incidentally, my daughter was also Darth Vader for Halloween. Then the next year, she wanted to be Elsa. Sigh....
