I recently raised very similar points in a story about working moms on TV vs. working moms in real life. One (of many) things that always strikes me about TV moms is these deep, close friendships they have with other adult women, not to mention all the time they manage to spend with their friends away from their kids. But in reality, modern parenthood is incredibly isolating. Most of us lack a viable support system and without one, we simply don't have the time/energy to invest in meaningful relationships outside our family. Thanks for bringing attention to this important issue!
