I just finished reading book 2 of The Hunger Games to my 9yo daughter (probably a questionable parenting decision, but after we started the first one, she insisted we keep reading). I had the same thoughts about Peeta. He was so different from the character I imagined he would be when he was first introduced! Sometimes I get so focused on showing my children examples of strong women that I forget they also need examples of gentle, empathetic men. Oh, and to answer your question, I have *exactly* the same strength/weakness as you. I'm fiercely independent but I suck at asking for help. It's made parenting in particular a difficult journey in some ways, especially since we live in a society that doesn't readily offer mothers help. Great question, I appreciate your candor!
