I have a friend like that who lives across the street from me and has a child around my son's age. "Friend" would actually be a stretch -- she and I don't even talk all that much, but our kids are always running back and forth between each other's houses and it really helps us both get a break. I often have nightmares about her moving! I also often imagine what life would be like if I had relationships like that with every neighbor with kids within walking distance. The isolation has made parenting that much harder. I'm glad you've learned to give yourself grace -- and it's true, soon we'll probably both have *too much* alone time!
