I feel this too, and I wish that as a society we celebrated the growth that we undergo as mothers more often. There's this parallel idea of "motherhood as martyrdom" that drives me nuts -- yes, we learn how to sacrifice more, but that doesn't mean that to be a good mom, we just have to fade into the background.
