Hmmm… I certainly hope so, but if that was his intention, I didn’t pick up on it. I love the self-deprecating nature of Nate Bargatze’s humor, but this particular bit really grated on me. I guess partially because there was no accountability. Maybe if had ended with something like:

“And I realized that I should really know these things! Why don’t I know these things? If my wife got, say, hit by a school bus, I should really know our daughter’s bus number! And I should probably know the number of the bus that hit my wife, too!”

Now that would have been a whole different story.
