Having a partner of a different race than you adds another layer of complexity to all the other complexities of marriage, cohabitation, and coparenting. Generally speaking, adolescence for multiracial children is harder than adolescence for monoracial children. My husband has struggled with a lot of job insecurity that is a direct result of racism, which has added financial stress to our relationship. It's also more likely that interracial couples have been parented differently and therefore struggle more with co-parenting. The list goes on and on...
