As the white mother of two mixed-race children and one mixed-race stepson, stories like this make me so upset. Raising a mixed-race child is not a responsibility to be taken lightly, and white parents have the potential to do incredible damage to their multiracial children. I've seen this firsthand in the case of my stepson, who is not only anti-BLM but pro-Proud Boy. His radicalization has been extremeley painful for our family, and a testament to the profound confusion and hurt caused by a white mother who would rather not acknowledge racism and who sometimes actively participates in it. Thanks for drawing attention to an issue we need to talk about more.
