Abso-fucking-lutely. All the things we once took for granted, that we didn't even think about, suddenly called into question. For me, society peaked just after Obama was elected and just before I got my first iPhone. A wise person once shared a great quote with me: "If you want to be hopeful... do hopeful things." 😉 For me, I've realized that while interconnectedness at a local level is a wonderful thing, at a global level it's not only dizzying but potentially highly problematic. If one link in the chain breaks down thousands of miles away, everything can come crashing down. And guess what? Our climate reality is only going to lead to more and more weak links. I actually described my vision of utopia in the story I posted today about worker owned cooperatives (and I also mentioned that quote!). We have to build local supply chains, local communities, local economies. Maybe it won't bring us back to 1994 but it would be a start!!
